About the Position

The Deployment Lead is a key member of a specialised global team responsible for launching laboratory services at new sites, embedding ALS Culture with respect to Safety, Quality and Technical standards across diverse international environments, and training local staff.

This is not a desk role. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in geochemical laboratory workflows and thrives in complex field environments. They are a hands-on operator: technically capable, experienced in laboratory operations, and a natural ALS ambassador. This position works closely with operational leaders and support functions to deliver successful project delivery.

Success in this role requires adaptability, resilience, and the ability to work effectively in remote and resource-constrained environments. The role involves extensive international travel and extended periods in the field.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;

  • Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;

  • Lead the setup and commissioning of new laboratory sites, covering sample receiving and preparation through to analytical instrumentation and data review workflows;

  • Deliver practical training programs to site staff across varied technical and cultural backgrounds; develop and maintain the training materials and SOPs that underpin them;

  • Assess staff competency against defined ALS standards and sign off readiness to operate independently;

  • Troubleshoot issues across laboratory workflows—sample prep, instrumentation, data quality, reporting—drawing on remote support and subject matter experts as needed;

  • Conduct quality audits to verify that sites are meeting ALS operational and technical standards;

  • Build working relationships with site management, local staff, and client representatives; communicate deployment progress through structured handover and review reports;

  • Support deployment planning logistics, including equipment readiness and cross-training coordination;

  • Other duties as assigned.
