Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Lab Operations Cognizant Test Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Test and Evaluation organization. This role is located at Edwards AFB, CA.

The selected candidate will be involved in lab operations including, but not limited to laboratory design, test planning, scheduling, execution and reporting.  The successful candidate for this role must be flexible, and able to support weekends, multiple shifts, and off hours as dictated by program test activities.

This will be a Mon-Fri 5x8 shift with the potential of turning into a 3x10 weekends shift if necessary to meet program needs. Additional compensation will be provided for those permanently assigned to work schedules other than first shift.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Software deployment and hardware configuration on the test stations 
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance to verify and maintain test configuration management
  • Develop acceptance test procedures in support of test activities
  • Perform test readiness reviews, dry-runs and formal qualification testing for test station and integration events
  • Brief management of lab status and progress
  • Manage daily lab operations and activities in compliance with policies and procedures

Basic Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either Test Engineer level or a Principal Test Engineer.

Basic Qualification for Lab Operations Cognizant Test Engineer

  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree and 2 years of related professional / military experience, or a Master’s degree and 0 years of related professional / military experience, or 6 years of relevant professional/ military experience
  • Must be capable of reading and comprehending mechanical and electrical schematics
  • Must have a basic understanding of test equipment, such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.
  • Must be familiar with test procedure development and execution
  • Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance or higher with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation
  • Must have ability to obtain and maintain program access (SAP/SAR) within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs

  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree and 5 years of related professional / military experience, or a Master’s degree and 3 years of related professional / military experience, or 9 years of relevant professional/ military experience

  • Must be familiar with test procedure development and execution
  • Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance or higher with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation
  • Must have ability to obtain and maintain program access (SAP/SAR) within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Electronic Principles, data bus protocol(s):  e.g. MIL-STD-1553, ARINC-429, IEEE 1394
  • Familiar with networking and software operations
  • Familiar with using scheduling tools, such as MS Project
  • Familiar utilizing Atlassian Tool Suite
  • Familiar with Linux and Windows Operating Systems
  • Previous Lab environment experience

Primary Level Salary Range: $83,400.00 - $125,200.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
