Objective:
The Laboratory Technician is the primary chemist for the Plating Chem-Lab. The main objective of this position is to collaborate in the chemical maintenance of the cleaning, activation, and plating tanks by the means of chemical analysis, and chemical additions as required.
Also, to provide support to other departments such as EHS, or production by the execution of requested non-planned activities.
Performance:
Knows and performs following good safety guidelines and practices to assure accident/incident-free work execution.
- Understands and executes chemical analysis such as titrations.
- Basic knowledge of Hazardous waste and Hazardous materials management
- Basic knowledge regarding chemical lab instrumentation and labware
- Basic theory and practical knowledge of the daily lab operations.
- Follows the procedures as required, and provides feedback for process improvement purposes.
Daily activities:
Executes chemical titrations on plating, activation, and cleaning baths based on the define analysis schedule.
- Executes pH measurements on plating, activation, and cleaning baths based on the define schedule.
- Executes specific gravity on plating baths as required per define schedule.
- Performs concentration measurement by the means of ICP
- Executes Hull cell testing as required per define schedule.
- Ensure safe practices (jointly safe department)
- Provides support with chemical inventory
- Execute chemical process maintenance activities such as carbon treatment, dummy plate, etc.
Makes chemical additions to maintain plating, activation, and cleaning tanks within pre-defined working parameters.
Safety & Continuous improvement:
Support on 5S’s culture (deployment and maintenance)
- Provides feedback by communicating improvement opportunities
- Participates in Kaizen events as required.
- Abides to state, Federal and OSHA regulations
