A Day in the Life:
Are you energized by building structure, improving systems, and making complex operations run better every day? We are seeking a driven, collaborative Test Operations Engineer to help shape the future of our physical test lab operations. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working across teams, turning data into insight, and building processes that enable others to succeed. You’ll play a key role in how we plan work, manage resources, implement new systems, and continuously improve lab efficiency and effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Financial Leadership
- Partner closely with management and finance to forecast, track, and manage department budgets
- Develop and report monthly metrics that provide clear visibility into spending, trends, and opportunities
Project & Workload Forecasting
- Collaborate with all test teams to forecast future project workload, including expense estimates and technician resource needs
- Work with VPM and RM to align and level forecasts during reviews
- Track performance against plans and report actionable metrics
CMMS Implementation & Ownership
- Lead the planning and implementation of a new Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Build and organize equipment inventories, critical asset data, preventive maintenance checklists, dashboards, and reports
- Establish systems that improve forecasting accuracy, equipment tracking, compliance, and long-term planning
Continuous Improvement & Special Projects
- Support the lab operations team with process improvement initiatives, time studies, and efficiency projects, such as:
- Calibration assessment – evaluate and determine calibration requirements, intervals and necessity across all lab teams
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and reduce administrative burden across the lab
Who We’re Looking for:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another technical discipline
- Experience with test equipment and laboratory or facility environments preferred
- 5+ years of experience in a testing or lab-based environment
Desired:
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders
- Comfortable working cross-functionally and communicating with both technical and non-technical teams
