🔧 What You’ll Do
⚙️ Lab Facility & Equipment
Oversee all lab infrastructure — electrical power, utilities, and HVAC coordination
Manage equipment purchasing, installation, calibration, and preventive maintenance
Ensure facilities meet the needs of complex instrumentation and future expansion
Work closely with engineers to help design and prototype custom equipment setups
📈 Scientific writing and financial analysis
Assist with grant writing and budget creation (NIH/NSF/DOD style)
Support patent drafting and IP filings with inventors and attorneys
Help leadership prepare investor reports and financial analyses
🧬 Animal & Biological Research Support
Prepare and submit IACUC animal protocols and IBC registrations
Maintain full compliance with NIH and biosafety (BSL-2) standards
⚗️ Chemical & EHS Safety
Oversee chemical safety, waste disposal, and EHS compliance
Maintain chemical inventories, SDS documentation, and safety training programs
Manage local/state permits and inspections for lab operations
📈 Admin & Operations
Supervise and mentor administrative staff; ensure smooth lab operations and scheduling
Ensure proper financial accounting
Other admin duties as required
🧠 What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical engineering, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Neuroscience, Biology or related field
Experience in managing BSL-2 and chemical labs in biotech, academia, or startups
Proven experience with IBC and animal protocol submissions
Strong understanding of lab infrastructure, power, and equipment needs
3+ years’ experience in grant writing and budgeting; familiarity with NIH/DoD/NSF preferred
3+ years’ experience in writing patent applications
Technically curious, detail-oriented, and able to bridge science and operations seamlessly
Skills Required
- Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Neuroscience, Biology, or related field
- Experience managing BSL-2 and chemical laboratories
- Proven experience preparing and submitting IACUC animal protocols and IBC registrations
- 3+ years' experience in grant writing and budget creation
- Familiarity with NIH, NSF, and DoD grant mechanisms
- 3+ years' experience writing patent applications
- Strong understanding of lab infrastructure, electrical power, utilities, and equipment needs (including HVAC coordination)
- Experience overseeing chemical safety, waste disposal, SDS management, permits, and EHS compliance
- Experience supervising and mentoring administrative staff and managing lab operations and scheduling
