Job Summary:
Working under direct supervision, is responsible for processing standard production samples, operation of analytical equipment and various lab support functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- After completion of relevant training, analyst should be able to perform various chemical sample preparations, handle and analyze standard client samples without contamination and act in a manner consistent with principles of analytical chemistry to obtain accurate, reproducible and precise results.
- Maintain laboratory notebooks and logbooks, according to protocol.
- Input data for reports and summaries. This may include writing experimental reports, summaries and protocols, and may require putting together data in a final report format.
Other Duties
Participates in projects as assigned and at the discretion of the company.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Since ChemTrace is a global company, communication in English is essential.
- Basic computer skill with “Word” and “Excel” knowledge
- Must be able to analyze data, interpret results and make detailed observations concerning a particular technique.
- Identify and solve simple problems in the laboratory, such as ensuring sufficient lab supplies and reagents are available to perform assigned takes.
- May also develop and maintain record keeping for experiments performed.
- Safe use and disposition of hazardous chemicals.
- Experience in a cleanroom environment
- Able to manage time efficiently
- Able to work in a team
Educational/Certification Requirements:
BS degree in Chemistry or related discipline
Work Experience Requirements:
0 - 2 years of related laboratory or chemical experience.
Work Environment: This job is usually performed in a professional laboratory environment, routinely using specialized laboratory equipment along with computers, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and other related laboratory equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical equipment, parts and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment and manufacturing areas can occasionally be moderate or loud.
Physical Demands: Requires long exposure to "cleanroom" conditions, wearing "cleanroom" garments and various personal protective items (gloves, goggles, etc.) depending upon work activity. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Requires steady hands and ability to handle hazardous chemicals safely, with great care and precision. Able to safely lift up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to safely sit; climb stairs, maintain balance and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust optical focus.
