Ericsson is a world leader in communications technology and services. We help enable a connected future and create value for our customers through innovation and collaboration. Join a passionate global team developing next-generation mobile networks - including the leading Cloud RAN Layer 1 solutions for multiple platforms.
We are seeking a Senior Line Manager to lead a team of software engineers developing Cloud RAN Layer 1 software. You will work alongside two other line managers and their teams to develop industry-leading Layer 1 solutions for cloud platforms (eg. Intel, ARM, NVIDIA) and drive initial 6G Layer 1 development. The role combines people leadership, technical direction, program delivery and innovation enablement.
What you will do
• Lead, coach and grow a cross-functional team of software engineers, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture.
• Manage resource planning, hiring, performance reviews and career development for the team.
• Drive delivery of high-quality, performant Layer 1 software to schedule, coordinating with project management, system architects and other line managers.
• Define technical roadmap for Cloud RAN Layer 1 across target cloud platforms (Intel, ARM, NVIDIA).
• Champion real-time, low-latency and platform-optimized implementations; set quality and performance targets.
• Guide early 6G Layer 1 development activities to influence future product directions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to de-risk projects and ensure successful product integration and field trials.
The skills you will bring
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 10+ years of software development experience, including roles such as developer, team lead, project manager or line manager.
• Proven people leadership experience managing medium to large engineering teams and driving delivery across multiple releases.
• Strong results-oriented leadership style: proactive, empowering, pragmatic with a focus on sustainable engineering solutions.
• Demonstrated experience with performance-critical software, real-time constraints, and system-level optimization.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with product, architecture and business stakeholders.
• Clear acceleration and measurable increase in AI-assisted development productivity (e.g., reduced time-to-fix, improved test coverage, faster performance tuning) in the first 12 months.
• High team engagement and retention, with defined career progression paths and measurable improvements in individual development plans.
• Successful prototypes or initial contributions to 6G Layer 1 concepts and demonstrators
