Job Description:
The role of the Kōnea Ola Senior Manager is to: (1) assist in advancing the mission of Kōnea Ola (as documented in the attached Kōnea Ola Narrative Description of Activities) and other, associated project management work for its clients, as needed; and (2) assist, as necessary with other operational and administrative roles and responsibilities associated with the Kealakekua Mountain Reserve and its related entities (collectively, “Work Activities”) when and as delegated by the KMR General Manager and KMR Operations Manager. These include, but are not limited to, the Work Activities listed below:
Job Responsibilities:
Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the execution of multiple projects
Assist with business planning, including cost/benefit analysis of programs and objectives
Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
Assist in the definition of project goals, scope and objectives, involving all relevant internal stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
Ensure resource availability and allocation
Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress
Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
Measure performance using appropriate project management tools and techniques
Report and escalate to management, as needed, challenges related to projects, their deliverables and timelines
Manage the relationship with each entity and other relevant stakeholders
Perform risk management to minimize potential risks to the project and all related parties
Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
Meet with appropriate entity owners, staff and agents to take detailed ordering briefs and clarify specific requirements of each project
Delegate project tasks as appropriate and in consultation with Kōnea Ola Directors and KMR leadership
Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of goals
Meet budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project constraints based on financial analysis
Develop comprehensive project plans to be shared with appropriate entity owners and other staff members
Attend conferences and training as required to maintain proficiency
Develop spreadsheets, diagrams and process maps to document project status, needs and objectives
Potentially oversee the maintenance of one or more designated management units at the Kealakekua Mountain Reserve
Job Qualifications:
College bachelor’s degree, or equivalent (i.e., extensive experience with Polynesian culture), in a natural resources discipline, Hawaiian culture, business management, engineering, or applied sciences
5 years of public-benefit organization work experience in an operational environment
5 or more years management or supervisory experience
Willingness to obtain additional certifications collectively identified with your leaders
Excellent listening, verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in computer programs such as but not limited to MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
Able to operate or learn to operate heavy equipment.
Leadership abilities for Kōnea Ola staff and volunteers, KMR employees and contractors
Self-motivated and strong independent work ethic, timely and dependable
Respectful of the host culture
