Grow up and thrive for the days destined to you.
Your hands to the tools of the Pākehā to provide physical sustenance,
Your heart to the treasures of your ancestors as a diadem for your brow,
Your soul to your God, to whom all things belong.

The KPMG Kiwa programme is a mentoring initiative for Māori and Pasifika university students. The aim of our mentoring programme is to develop your potential – by building confidence and knowledge while exposing one to corporate spaces.

If you are Māori or Pasifika, currently studying at tertiary level in New Zealand, interested in a career in the corporate sector and looking to gain skills and confidence to get through any recruitment programme - this is for you!

The programme runs through second semester of 2026, where you are matched with a member of the KPMG whānau and attend a range of workshops and networking events. Our programmes are run out of these KPMG offices; Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Hamilton.

Kiwa Mentoring includes one-on-one mentoring alongside workshops designed to grow your skills and confidence, enabling you to:

  • Understand your “why” and how your personality shapes how you show up
  • Build a strong CV and confidently communicate your skills in interviews
  • Explore career pathways and see how your interests align with different roles
  • Gain insight into Māori and Pasifika experiences in corporate environments
  • Apply your learning in a practical, real-world assessment setting

About the Kiwa Mentoring Programme

The Kiwa Mentoring Programme is designed to create a culturally safe and supportive environment where participants can build meaningful connections, strengthen their confidence, and grow both personally and professionally.

We welcome participants from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, including Māori, Pasifika, and allies who are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive community. We recognise that everyone brings unique strengths, aspirations, and ways of learning, and we encourage individuals with disabilities, additional mental health needs, chronic health conditions, or who identify as neurodivergent to participate.

If you have any accessibility requirements or would like support to participate fully in the programme, please let us know. We are committed to working with participants to ensure the programme is as inclusive and accessible as possible.

Through the Kiwa Mentoring Programme, participants can expect:

  • Mentoring relationships that provide guidance, support, and opportunities to learn from the experiences of others.
  • Interactive workshops focused on building confidence, developing professional skills, strengthening cultural identity, and navigating career pathways.
  • Opportunities to expand your network and form meaningful relationships across KPMG and the wider Kiwa community.
  • A supportive environment that encourages whakawhanaungatanga, knowledge sharing, and reciprocal learning.
  • Opportunities to build confidence in bringing your authentic self to work and embracing your unique strengths and experiences.
  • Connection to the wider Kiwa network and opportunities to participate in cultural, social, and community-focused events throughout the year.

The programme is designed to help participants strengthen their capabilities, explore future career pathways, and gain greater insight into life at KPMG. While participation in the programme may provide opportunities to engage with KPMG professionals and learn about potential career opportunities, participation does not guarantee employment. Any future recruitment opportunities will be assessed through KPMG's standard recruitment processes and subject to business needs.
