Job Description
Pay Rate: $19.25 per hour
6:52AM-3:30PM +OT
Visually observe shackled birds to make certain that no live birds pass by kill stations and get to
scalder after leaving chicken killing machine area. If a live bird is observed to be alive then the
throat must be slit cleanly and evenly to allow for proper bleeding.
Steps:
1. Visually observes shackled birds as they pass by workstation.
2. Watches for and visually identify birds that the machine did not kill and that have not been
properly bled.
3. Manually kill the birds that have not been properly slit using a knife and completing the task
by hand. The throat must be slit cleanly and evenly to allow for proper bleeding; head may
be completely removed if necessary.
General:
1. Able to do basic math; counting, telling of time.
2. Ability to understand and communicate in English. Able to follow instructions, both verbal
and demonstrated.
3. Previous production type experience preferred. Able to stand at workstation and other
position as assigned.
4. Good hand-eye coordination. Ability to make quick quality judgment decisions within the
levels of assigned duties.
Qualifications
- Must be able to stand for prolong periods of time (8+HRS) on the concrete/metal grate ergo stands on the floor
- Good hand-eye coordination
- Ability to meet company established standards
- Repetitive grasping, pushing, and pulling motions, torso twisting and lifting of 4-10LBS
- Able to work in a dark, dusty, cold, or hot environment
