Job Description

The Opportunity: 

Mattel, Inc., the largest toy company in the world, is seeking a Key Account Manager to drive revenue and profitability by selling the most iconic toy brands in the industry to top retailers in the US.

The Key Account Manager will be responsible for developing and executing our Strategic Account Plans for multiple categories. The role will require a deep understanding of the retail environment and how to align our portfolio of products with the account needs.

This position will be based in our Rogers, Arkansas Sales office. The position will require travel to the account and Mattel’s corporate headquarters. 

What Your Impact Will Be: 

  • Account base consists of:
    • Focus on Fisher-Price Baby Gear/Newborn lines and Games product lines.
    • Direct interaction with buying, planning, advertising, merchandising and finance teams at the accounts
  • Achieve targeted sales objectives for dedicated accounts consistent with the annual business plan by leveraging data, consumer and shopper insights
    • Quarterly and annual sales and profitability targets
    • Increase overall revenue in conjunction with profitable growth at account level. (Includes ROI analysis to justify funding spends)
  • Identify business opportunities with the account(s) and work with internal partners to create customized plans to drive results
  • Conduct buyer meetings and periodic Business Reviews to refine inventory forecasts and promotional planning
  • Conduct internal discussions with Forecasting, Customer Service, Marketing and Retail Marketing teams to ensure strong retail execution
  • Manage monthly forecast and pledge review process to ensure in-line with open to build thresholds.
  • Oversee & manage budgets covering market development, trade and over & above funding.
  • Build and merchandise full-line Spring and Fall planograms to increase SKU and brand productivity for each customer
  • Design and implement display and prepack process to secure out of aisle space at retail accounts.
  • Maintain item set-up and fill/cut reports within account base.
  • Attend toy shows & previews and be knowledgeable of brands and product lines
  • Build relationships with the account’s buyers, planners and marketers, internal Mattel partners and Licensor partners

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For: 

  • Insights-based: Analytical ability to use data to drive business decisions and recommendations, blended with understanding of shopper psychological behaviors
  • Driven: Goal oriented mindset to drive to our numbers
  • Self-directed: Ability to make consistently sound judgments
  • Relationship-builder: Ability to build positive and strong long-term relationships with the account and exert influence
  • Poise: Effective selling & communication skills with confidence will be key to success

  • Organized: Ability to sort out distractions which might inhibit achievement of objectives and prioritize based on strategic direction
  • 5 years’ related experience in either Consumer-Packaged Goods or Mass-Market Retailer.
    • Experience in Account Management or related function (forecasting and planning, category management, promotional planning, buying, etc.)
    • Experience in either the Toy Industry or Grocery Industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field

The annual base salary range for this position is between $100,000 and $125,000.
**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
