Key Account Manager
Homebased
Full time, Permanent, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Salary between £50,000 and £60,000 depending on experience
About the Role:
Due to contract expansion, we are seeking a Key Account Manager to join our team. As a member of the Group Business Development team reporting to the Account Director, you will manage the client relationship and contract management strategy with all teams within the client central government department(s).
You will support the Managing Director and/or Contract Delivery Director with representing Mears in client meetings, and influence the client to ensure operational, compliance, and commercial success, identifying and leveraging new avenues of opportunities.
Where new processes or policies are agreed, the role holder will ensure all Mears operational and central support teams are aware of changes and ensure the necessary management actions are in place to implement and meet the client expectations.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Provide proactive key account management to all senior engagements with the client government department(s) and any relevant or related government bodies.
- Lead on compiling all necessary data, reports and policy documents that drive innovation and open new avenues of opportunity.
- Work with the Managing Director and/or Contract Delivery Director to understand and manage the change within the contract to meet the demands of the service.
- Liaise with the operational team to identify under-performance and evidence of operational success for the clients’ awareness.
- Support the Managing Director and/or Contract Delivery Director with client contract change notices and any other relevant client negotiations.
- Communicate all client changes and service requirements to Mears operational and central support teams.
- Leverage relationships and forums to identify potential new avenues of opportunity for Mears to solve client problems.
- Establish collaborative relationships with key client decision makers and influencers to position us as the supplier of choice for new opportunities.
- Work proactively with colleagues and client stakeholders to develop and propose innovations and solutions to embed Mears as supplier of choice, leveraging Mears’ expertise from across the Group.
Role Criteria:
- Degree or equivalent level of experience
- Demonstrable strong understanding of the principles of contract/ partnership management.
- Working within a mid-senior role at a central and/or devolved government level
- Experience reporting to senior directors/Board level
- Influencing and negotiating commercial service contracts
- Ability to work productively in a pressurised environment, acting decisively when faced with urgent issues while consistently maintaining a high level of service at all times.
- Have a genuine understanding of Government structures and operations
- IT literate utilising Microsoft packages.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and challenge internally & externally.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads to achieve targets.
- Ability to proactively manage, analyse and influence outcomes utilising data.
- Motivated to provide a high quality service, always looking for ways to improve.
