Costaterra is a private members only residential community in Comporta – Portugal. It combines luxury living with top-tier hospitality, offering incredible dining, a world-class golf course, spa services, outdoor pursuits, and immersive local experiences.
A Junior Sommelier assists the Head Sommelier with daily wine service, cellar management (inventory, storage, rotation), and staff training, while providing expert, personalized wine recommendations and pairings to guests to elevate their dining experience. Key duties involve guest interaction, service precision, knowledge building (new wines, trends, regions), cellar upkeep, and supporting special events, requiring passion, attention to detail, and strong communication skills.
What you will do?
- Guest Service: Guide guests in selecting wines, suggest pairings, and serve beverages with precision and knowledge.
- Cellar & Inventory Management: Assist with receiving, organizing, stocking, rotating, and taking inventory of wines; ensure proper storage conditions (temp/humidity).
- Wine List & Knowledge: Help maintain the wine list, learn new wines, regions, and vintages, and stay updated on trends.
- Staff Support: Participate in staff training sessions, educating colleagues on wine service and pairings.
- Service Standards: Ensure proper glassware, polishing, and setup of wine service stations.
- Events: Support wine tastings and special wine-related events.
