What do we need
Dotmatics is seeking a Backend/Full Stack Engineer with an understanding of basic backend architecture and functional programming languages, such as Java & Java Script, to join our team. You will be responsible for implementing and testing scalable software that meets the needs of the company. Working on groundbreaking Scientific Software products such as LUMA you will have the opportunity to collaborate with wider teams on best practices alongside other developers.
In this role you will get to
- Collaborate with the software development team in designing, developing, and implementing high-quality software solutions
- Contribute to the development of software architecture and design principles for the organization.
- Ensure the scalability, maintainability, and security of software solutions.
- Participate in code reviews.
We are looking for people who have a bachelor's degree in computer science or similar, or equivalent working experience with a minimum of 1 year PQE in software development, with a focus on backend technologies, and can demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
The key skills we are looking for you have a working understanding or knowledge of
- Java or similar programming language (Scala or C#)
- Javascript
- Asynchronous event processing (Kafka, SQS or similar)
- SQL Databases (Postgres)
- High-level backend application design
- RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
- Containerization (Docker).
- CI/CD tools, such as Github Actions, and CodePipeline.
- Agile software development methodologies and practices.
You may also have experience in
- Databricks
- Automated testing platforms and unit tests.
- React
- Life science research experience
- Scaling applications to process large volumes of data and events
Total Rewards
Dotmatics utilises a national market-based approach to base pay benchmarking and pay band development. The candidate's final starting pay is based on job-related skills, experience, job specific qualifications & location. In addition to base salary, Dotmatics has implemented a total rewards strategy, which is the combination of compensation, benefits and recognition.
Certain positions are also eligible for variable pay; your recruiter will discuss the full compensation package details.

This is the range that we, in good faith, believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
Starting Base Pay Range
$85,000—$95,000 USD
