We are looking for a Junior Software Engineer for Video Platform Services to join our Cloud Engineering teams to explore new ways to further enhance the Vonage Video Platform, our WebRTC-compliant Communications PaaS, with improved cloud systems, automation & networking, quality and reliability optimization of distributed services, and beyond.
As a Junior Software Engineer, you’ll contribute to building new features and improving our systems with a focus on quality and reliability. You’ll have the opportunity to learn by working on real-world projects, gaining hands-on experience with tools and data to help guide development decisions. We're looking for someone who’s motivated to grow their skills and excited to see their work in action in large-scale production environments. You'll be supported by a team of experienced engineers who are passionate about real-time communications, media, and cloud infrastructure.
Required Skills:
- Good Python skills, Java familiarity and a willingness to learn other languages.
- A taste for cloud technologies such as AWS, Kubernetes, Helm, Docker.
- CI/CD in Jenkins or similar tools.
- Excellent debugging and problem solving skills.
- Good understanding of algorithms, data structures, memory management, and concurrency.
Experience in any of the following areas would be beneficial, though not mandatory:
- Practical experience with media technologies: H.264/VP8/OPUS/AAC codecs, WebRTC standards, RTP/RTCP, STUN, TURN, ICE, VoIP, SIP, H.323, SDPs, audio/video processing, etc…
- Working knowledge of C/C++, Java Javascript, Go.
- Experience with backend and frontend software engineering with JavaScript, HTML5 APIs and Web coding.
- AI Agents and/or LLMs integration.
