Position Summary: 

As a Junior Software Developer at Akselos, you will help build features and tools that power our Structural Performance Management (SPM) platform. This is an attractive role where you will work under the guidance of senior mentors to improve our software codebase. You will focus on developing and maintaining desktop and web applications for complex engineering structural simulation workflows. This role offers an excellent opportunity to deepen your software engineering skills while helping deliver advanced solutions used across the global energy and industrial sectors.

Responsibilities:

  • Feature Development: Design and implement new features, tools, APIs and components across the Akselos SPM platform, enhancing structural model configuration workflows, data processing, visualization, and overall user experience.
  • Automation Test Creation: Write Python scripts for automated tests, including unit tests, end-to-end tests, that help maintain software quality and “green” status for CI/CD pipelines. 

Must-have Technical Skills:

  • Engineering & Simulation Aptitude: A strong engineering background with the ability to quickly master and adapt to complex simulation workflows.
  • Python Proficiency: Practical experience writing and debugging code, with a solid grasp of core syntax and a strong commitment to continuously expanding my skills.
  • OOP Foundations: good understanding of core Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and a genuine desire to build clean, modular, and reusable code. 

Must-have Softskills:

  • English Communication: Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Analytical Problem-Solving: Sharp analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, especially when navigating data-heavy engineering workflows. 
  • Global Collaboration: Strong teamwork skills with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with developers, engineers, and domain experts across multiple continents and time zones.
  • Rigorous Work Ethic: Highly detail-oriented and conscientious, with a proven track record of thoroughly validating code logic and vetting edge cases to maintain system reliability. 

Nice-to-have skills:

  • AI-Assisted Development: Experience leveraging modern AI tools (such as Gemini, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot) to optimize and accelerate the development workflow.
  • Applied Mathematics: A solid foundation in mathematics, particularly linear algebra, matrix computations, and spatial geometry.
  • Data Management: Familiarity with database management systems (SQL) and related data-handling workflows.
  • Version Control: Competency with version control systems (Git or Mercurial), including branching strategies and peer code review practices.
  • Agile Methodology: Experience working within Agile development environments (e.g., Scrum or Kanban).
