Key Accountability 1: Conduct social screenings and assist in preparing Resettlement Action Plans
Key Activities:
• Carry out field-level social screening, consultations, and surveys to identify potential social impacts of the project
• Collect and analyze socio-economic data of affected communities to support RAP preparation
• Assist in drafting RAPs, ensuring compliance with national laws and donor guidelines
Key Outcomes:
• Comprehensive documentation of social impacts with clear identification of affected persons and assets.
• A well-prepared RAP that outlines mitigation measures, compensation framework, and livelihood restoration strategies.
• Timely submission of RAPs that meet approval standards of both client and financing agencies.
Key Accountability 2: Engage with local communities to address grievances and ensure inclusivity
Key Activities:
• Facilitate community meetings and focus group discussions to capture concerns, feedback, and suggestions
• Operate grievance redress mechanisms (GRM), ensuring timely registration, tracking, and resolution of complaints
• Promote inclusive participation by engaging women, vulnerable groups, and marginalized stakeholders
Key Outcomes:
• Strengthened trust and cooperation between project stakeholders and local communities
• Reduced conflicts and timely resolution of grievances through a functional GRM system
• Enhanced inclusivity in project planning and implementation, ensuring voices of all groups are represented
Key Accountability 3: Support gender-based initiatives and community mobilization efforts.
Key Activities:
• Assist in designing and implementing gender-sensitive activities that promote women’s participation and empowerment
Collaborate with local organizations and leaders to mobilize communities for project-related programs and awareness
campaigns.
• Monitor and document gender and community development outcomes for reporting and continuous improvement
Key Outcomes:
• Increased participation of women and vulnerable groups in project activities and decision-making processes.
• Strengthened community ownership and support for project initiatives through effective mobilization.
• Improved gender equity and social inclusion reflected in measurable project results
Formal Qualifications
• Master’s degree in social science or related field
Experience
At least 5 years of experience, including 3 years in community engagement.
Has the demonstrated ability to consistently:
• Conduct social screenings, surveys, and community consultations for project activities
• Assist in preparing Resettlement Action Plans (RAP) in compliance with national and donor requirements
• Facilitate grievance redress processes and ensure timely resolution of community concerns
• Support gender-based initiatives and promote inclusion of vulnerable groups.
• Build strong relationships with local communities and stakeholders through effective engagement
• Prepare reports and documentation to support social safeguard compliance and project delivery

Skills / Knowledge
• Proficiency in social safeguard policies, resettlement planning, and stakeholder engagement
• Experience in conducting social screenings, baseline surveys, and socio-economic assessments
• Knowledge of grievance redress mechanisms (GRM) and conflict resolution approaches
• Familiarity with gender mainstreaming and social inclusion practices
• Strong community consultation, facilitation, and mobilization skills
• Ability to prepare Resettlement Action Plans (RAP) and social safeguard documentation
• Good analytical, reporting, and documentation skills
• Effective communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
