Damen Shiprepair Curaçao (DSCu) is a growing company in the Caribbean and is part of the Damen Shipyards Group. Since February 2017, DSCu operates the ship repair yard, continuing a full range of services for the maintenance, repair, refit and conversion of vessels and offshore constructions of all types and sizes for shipping companies all over the globe. 

DSCu has two (2) graving docks and 1.5 kilometers of quay that enables us to provide the highest quality of service to each project with its unique challenges and requirements. 

For our Operations Department, we are seeking for a candidate for  the position Junior Project Manager.

As a Junior Project Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of marine repair projects. Your focus on balancing time, cost, and quality will be critical to meeting client expectations and contributing to the overall success of our projects. 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Assist project managers in serving as a communication link between clients, the shipyard, and internal teams, helping to resolve issues promptly.
  • Support the definition of project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with management and stakeholders.
  • Help develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and communication documents.
  • Provide clear and timely updates on project expectations, progress, and requirements to team members and stakeholders
  • Contribute to estimating resource requirements (time, labor, materials) and identifying participants needed to achieve project objectives.
  • Assist in drafting budget proposals, monitoring expenditures, and recommending adjustments to support cost control.
  • Track project milestones and deliverables, preparing progress reports for stakeholders
  • Help identify and monitor project risks, dependencies, and critical paths.
  • Present and provide in depth analysis of financial results at start , mid and end project.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field, supplemented with relevant training courses such as work preparation, project management, subcontractor management, or similar.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant working experience in a technical environment, preferably in the maritime sector.
  • Knowledge of shipbuilding processes and marine engineering principles.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and motivate teams.
  • High learning capacity with the flexibility to adapt to new processes, technologies, and project requirements.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English; knowledge of Dutch, Spanish, and Papiamentu is an advantage.
