Overview of the Function
The ACT Junior Paralegal is responsible for administrative case management and practice support.
Role summary/purpose of job
The ACT paralegal will work closely with the ACT practice support manager and the ACT associates to manage electronic and hard copy documents, prepare filings, memoranda, and other work product and to facilitate a seamless flow of information to and from the Freshfields team and/or clients. A successful candidate will have, or will quickly develop, the foresight to anticipate and respond to the needs of the attorneys, the clients and/or the case as necessary.
Key responsibilities and deliverables
- Assist with preparation of agency filings, court filings, document productions, and other materials.
- Manage hard copy and electronic documents, including managing email and electronic files and preparing binders of hard copy documents.
- Research current events and perform key word searches on Lexis and other news databases.
- Follow ongoing cases and provide updates to attorneys as directed.
- Develop expertise in use of document review tools, including the ability to manage workflow to and from large document review teams, and the ability to perform keyword searches over the data.
- Liaise with other office support staff, to ensure efficacy of workflow.
- Travel to client sites to collect documents to respond to document requests in government investigations and/or litigation.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Key requirements (Communication/skills/experience)
Essential
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Strong attention to detail with exceptional organizational skills and ability to multi-task and manage shifting priorities.
- Robust technological skills and a desire to learn related processes for greater efficiency.
- Ability to create a friendly and professional rapport with attorneys, staff, and external parties.
- Ability to work significant overtime as required.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive matters.
- A desire to gain experience in the legal field.
- Ability to lift up to 40lbs.
