Junior Paralegal (Contractor)
Position Overview
Cadence is seeking a contractor Junior Paralegal to primarily support the Lead Paralegal in the Yokohama office and the Legal Department in the Japan region, with essential administrative and legal support functions. This is a temporary position ideal for candidates seeking hands-on experience in a corporate legal environment. The role involves a variety of tasks, including filing, billing support, and reviewing internal requests.
Key Responsibilities
- Filing Work
Organize, maintain, and update legal files and records in both physical and electronic formats.
Assist with document management, including indexing, scanning, and archiving legal documents.
Ensure accurate and timely filing of contracts, agreements, and other legal documentation.
- Billing Work
Support the processing and tracking of legal invoices from outside counsel and vendors.
Assist with billing data entry, reconciliation, and reporting as needed.
Coordinate with various departments, including Finance and Accounts Payable, on invoice approvals and payment status.
- Reviewing Requests
Conduct an initial review of incoming Anti-Corruption approval requests submitted to the Legal Department for completeness and accuracy, as the Legal Admin role. Track requests through completion.
Follow up on pending requests and ensure timely responses.
- General Support
Provide general administrative support to attorneys and paralegals as needed.
Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
4+ years of experience in an international law firm, or in a legal role, ideally with experience at a multinational technology company.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Excellent English/Japanese written skills.
Fluent English verbal communication skills preferable.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
