Junior Network Controller

About The Business Area/Department :

FLS is responsible for ensuring seamless, 24/7 operational continuity across Amadeus services in the Americas. The team focuses on incident detection, rapid recovery, coordination, and escalation to keep critical platforms running smoothly.

Summary of the role:

Network Controllers form a 24x7 team (shift work) to monitor the Amadeus network (on premise and cloud) and to identify and recover from incidents as quickly as possible, as well as to perform changes within scope and to approve and control changes to the network by other teams.

In this role you’ll:

• Recover from incidents as quickly as possible.

• Monitor the network status.

• Prepare and perform changes that are in scope of Network Operations’ responsi-bility.

• Monitor changes made to the network by other teams (eg Engineering, Firewall Group, Capacity groups ) and, once implemented, to validate the change and closely monitor the changed environment.

• Handle equipment faults ensuring that hardware is repaired or replaced.

• Report and follow-up on issues with services from external providers.

• Create, review and update operational procedures (OPROCs). Optimise and keep up-to-date Network Operation knowledge database (OPROCs). Develop OPROCs for new environments or new technologies.

• Correlate network incidents to existing problems and /or changes.

• Perform handover to production of new network devices, new network environ-ments and documentation.

• Work together with other Amadeus teams to ensure that the environment handed over to production meet with Network Operations’ requirements.

• Initiate follow-up problem investigations when required and to ensure that prob-lem follow-up is progressing on records assigned to network specialists

• Support automation initiatives by identifying processes to be automated, contrib-ute to user stories/specifications and create, update and maintain automation playbooks/scripts/software

About the ideal candidate:

• Fluent in English

• Good overall network knowledge, LAN, WAN, TCP/IP protocol suite, Cisco and other

  network devices

• Knowledge of PTT standards, practices, services (T1/3, E1/3, SDH, SMDS, SONET, DWDM)

• Knowledge of physical interface standards (V.24, V.35, X.21, G.703/704, optical in-terfaces)

• Knowledge of protocols HDLC, LAP-B/D/F, X.25, Frame Relay, MPLS, ISDN (BRI, PRI)

• Knowledge of LAN principles and protocols (Ethernet, Wireless Ethernet), LAN switch-ing technology and protocols (VLANs, Spanning Tree, Fabric Path) and devices (CISCO Catalysts/Nexus)

• Knowledge of server load balancing technologies (Cisco and F5 products)

• Knowledge of network controlling technologies (Firewalls, Proxy products)

• Knowledge of network management principles, protocols, tools (SNMP, MIB,)
