Job Title: Junior Linux Admin

Alpha Omega is seeking a qualified Junior Linux Admin in support of our Department Of Commerce customer. In this role, this individual will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring the infrastructure; also, to collaborate with other team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes. You will become an integral part of a close-knit team, making every problem of the platform a problem of your own, and solving them accordingly. Also innovating to come up with infrastructure improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
•Manage and maintain Infrastructure using Ansible. Write Ansible playbooks and contribute to the ongoing platform within the IaC approach via.
• Manage and maintain Virtualization clusters.
• Oversee platform software releases, system upgrades, evaluates, and install patches and resolves software related problems. Perform ongoing performance tuning.
• Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
• Perform regular vulnerability patching and monitoring.
• Provide Tier II-III/other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
• Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
• Configure/add new services as necessary and implement new platform features.
• Upgrade and configure system software that supports infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications per project or operational needs.
• Maintain system hardware, including Laptops, servers, Network equipment’s swapping parts, managing returns, rebuilding filesystems, escorting third-party maintenance personnel, and coordinating and communicating with impacted constituencies.
Required Qualifications:
Experience/Skills:
• Demonstrated knowledge and working experience in both Linux OS (RHEL/CentOS/AlmaLinux) and container technology.
• Linux System Administration in virtualized environments (KVM, RHV-Ovirt)
• Demonstrated experience in configuration management tools such as Ansible
• Responsible for improving upon existing processes and systems using significant conceptualizing, reasoning, and interpretation.
• A team player with a track record for meeting deadlines
• Takes ownership of assignments, working with minimal direct supervision, and updating Jira Service Tickets regularly.
• Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written correspondence) professionally and courteously with technical and non-technical personnel.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and facilitation skills.
Desired Skills:
• Experience with web servers Tomcat, Apache or Nginx. Familiarity with web-based technologies, including reverse proxy servers, SSL certificate configuration.
• Exposure to Jenkins, Gitlab runners, Grafana, Elasticsearch, Kafka and Icinga
• IBM Tivoli® Storage Manager - TSM Backup is also a big plus.
• Storage knowledge and experience with filesystems configuration along with Logical Volume Manage (LVM) strong knowledge of NFS and/or Ceph
• Preferred scripting experience. Bash, Python or Go.
Preferred Qualifications:
• RedHat Certified System Administrator and any Network/Windows and similar Certs are a plus
• AWS certifications a plus

Salary and Benefit Information:
The likely salary range for this position is $64,000- $70,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position and could fall outside of this range.
