The Role
Supports the design and development of learning programmes, courses, assessments, and materials across instructor-led, virtual, and self-directed formats. Conducts learning needs analysis, incorporates feedback, supports quality assurance and testing, interprets learner data, and collaborates with senior designers, subject matter experts, and project teams. This growth role requires foundational adult learning knowledge, strong organisation, attention to detail, data literacy, and willingness to develop greater design autonomy.
Summary Generated by Built In

AMI is looking for a motivated Junior Learning Designer to support the design and development of programmes, courses and other learning materials, working closely with and under the guidance of Senior Learning Designers and the Learning Design Lead. This is a growth role for someone building their instructional design craft — you'll work with increasing autonomy on defined pieces of the design process, while more complex or ambiguous design decisions are made together with a senior designer.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and development of learning programmes, materials, and online courses in accordance with AMI's established design models and quality frameworks, for instructor-led, virtual instructor-led, and self-directed formats.

  • Contribute to the design of engaging learning experiences under the direction of a Senior Learning Designer or the Learning Design Lead.

  • Support learning needs analysis activities — gathering input, drafting design input notes, and helping surface target audience and context detail.

  • Draft and adapt sections of learning materials and assessments in line with brand and quality standards, incorporating feedback from senior reviewers.

  • Support testing and quality assurance of training materials, flagging issues and helping action revisions.

  • Assist in analysing learner and programme data under guidance, to help inform adjustments during implementation.

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, project teams, and other Learning Designers on defined pieces of larger design projects.

Requirements

Education, Experience, Skills & Attributes

  • 1-2 years of experience in instructional or learning design, or a closely related field (e.g. education, training delivery, content development).

  • Foundational understanding of adult learning principles and behaviour change strategies, with a genuine interest in developing this further.

  • Growing ability to design learning journeys across formats (self-directed, instructor-led, virtual), with support from senior designers on more complex design decisions.

  • Exposure to or interest in designing for low-data environments and learners with limited internet access, particularly within MSME contexts, is an advantage.

  • Good self-management and organisation skills — able to work within deadlines, communicate proactively, and collaborate across teams with moderate supervision.

  • Comfortable using Google Workspace, project management tools (e.g. Monday.com), and remote collaboration platforms (e.g. Slack, Zoom).

  • Developing data literacy — able to interpret learning data with guidance and support adjustments to instructional strategies.

  • Attention to detail in producing learning materials, assessments, and content that align with brand standards.

  • An open, feedback-seeking, growth mindset and eagerness to grow into greater design autonomy over time.
