The Role

Job Description

The I.T. Assistance role is to support and maintain in-house computer systems, desktops, software and peripherals. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware / software while ensuring optimal workstation performance.

The person will also troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion, to include ad-hoc projects as an when required.

Responsibilities

Support

  • Assist in preparing, maintaining hardware / software. This include Microsoft products such as Microsoft Dynamic NAV, MO365, 8x8 phone system VOIPetc.
  • Accurately document instances of hardware failure, repair, installation, and removal.
  • Support development and implementation of new hardware installation projects.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of software/ hardware and equipment specification and cost.
  • Generating reports / analytics from Dynamic NAV system when required to support management.

Operational Support

  • Liaise with, and provide training and support to, BA staff on computer operation and other issues.
  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot BA user workstation hardware, networked peripheral devices, and networking hardware products.
  • Where required, install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot associated end user workstation software and networking software products.
  • Receive and respond to incoming calls /or e-mails regarding PC and/or hardware problems and liaising with our 3rd party IT consultant with IT related issues. (CooperParry)
  • Develop and maintain an inventory of all monitors, keyboards, hard drives, modems, printers, scanners, and other peripheral equipment.
  • Monitor and test PC performance and provide PC performance statistics and reports.
  • If necessary, liaise with third-party support and PC equipment vendors.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Technical knowledge of network and PC hardware, including Microsoft office 365.
  • Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Extensive equipment support experience with PC’s.
  • Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation,
  • and OEM guides.
  • Ability to conduct research into PC issues and products as required.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
  • Understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Self-motivated and directed.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Work as part of a team in stressful situations; maintain composure and sense of humour in the face of heavy workload and constant interruptions
  • Prepare data spreadsheets, charts, graphs, and other documents as required.
  • Ability to quickly gain new skills and knowledge when faced with new challenges, i.e. learning the issue using available resources.
