The Junior Engineer performs basic maintenance and repair tasks to support the Engineering Department in its 24/7 operation. This entry-level position assists with preventive maintenance, inspections, minor repairs, and general support duties under the supervision of the Engineering Manager. Junior Engineers are expected to grow their technical skills while contributing to the safe and efficient operation of casino facilities. Responsibilities are performed in accordance with all Company standards, policies, and procedures. This position will directly report to the Engineering Manager.

Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for practicing, supporting, and promoting North Fork Mono Casino's culture and always demonstrating exemplary Service Standards.
  • Assists with basic preventive maintenance tasks across building systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and life safety.
  • Responds to radio calls for general repair needs, under direction of Engineers or the Senior Engineer.
  • Provides labor support on multi-person jobs including lifting, moving, transporting tools, parts, and equipment.
  • Performs minor repairs such as tightening, lubricating, replacing filters or bulbs, or patching small areas.
  • Completes basic inspections and reports abnormal findings to supervisory staff.
  • Maintains cleanliness and readiness of maintenance carts, tools, and shared shop spaces.
  • Follows all department safety policies and procedures, including PPE and lockout/tagout protocols.
  • Assists in documenting tasks performed using CMMS systems or paper forms as directed.
  • Supports setup or teardown for facility events, vendor access, or emergency responses.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Willingness to learn building maintenance across multiple trades.
  • Ability to follow directions and complete tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools.
  • Clear communication skills and professionalism when interacting with guests or team members.
  • Dependable and detail-oriented, with ability to document work performed.
  • Comfortable working in a physically active, team-oriented environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in facility maintenance, a skilled trade, or a related commercial or hospitality environment required; or an equivalent combination of general maintenance, construction, or laborer experiences.
  • Valid California driver's license and insurability required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Commission, which includes passing a background investigation.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
Physical Requirements:
  • All work is performed on site in Madera, CA.
  • Requires manual dexterity to perform job related functions.
  • Ability to sit, stand or walk for the duration of their shift.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, bend, kneel, crawl, and climb ladders and stairs.
  • Frequent use of hands, wrists, arms, and shoulders.
  • Work involves exposure to mechanical equipment, tools, and casino environmental conditions.
Work Conditions:
Work is typically performed in areas that may be unusually hot, cold, noisy, or contain second-hand smoke. Tasks may occur in confined spaces such as crawlspaces or attics, as well as elevated locations such as catwalks and rooftops. Work is frequently performed from a non-sitting position and involves physical tasks such as standing, walking, lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, crawling, and grasping. These activities support the maintenance and care of assigned areas. Work may involve trained use of chemicals, and protective equipment must be worn as required. Constant contact with fellow Team Members and Guests is expected.

Pay Range

Skills Required
