As a Junior Embedded Software Development Engineer, you’ll contribute to the software that runs on Sonos players to help deliver reliable playback and great experiences across our ecosystem. You’ll work closely with a supportive team of engineers who will help you learn Sonos systems, embedded development practices, and how we ship high-quality software. You’ll be exposed to foundational areas of the Sonos system such as music playback, device-to-device interaction, and partner services. You’ll grow your skills through hands-on development, debugging, and collaboration across disciplines like hardware, product management, and user experience. This role is for a position on the Partner Integration team. You’ll be working closely with our Music Service Partners (MSPs) to support over 120 integrations on Sonos. Familiarity with API design, SDK integration, and full stack software development will serve you well in this role. You will be adding new exciting features, improving existing integrations, and helping shape the future of partner integrations on Sonos.
This is a hybrid position, allowing for a combination of remote work and in-office collaboration. Qualified applicants must live within commuting distance of our Boston office location and should expect to be in office a minimum of 3 days per week.

What You’ll DoContribute to embedded firmware development in C/C++ on Sonos players.
Implement well-scoped features and bug fixes with guidance from senior engineers.
Debug issues in embedded environments using logs, traces, and reproduction steps; learn root-cause analysis skills.
Collaborate with teammates across software, hardware, and QA to deliver reliable releases.
Participate in code reviews (both giving and receiving), and learn Sonos development and quality practices.
Help improve maintainability and reliability through testing, tooling, and incremental refactoring as you grow.
Maintain, patch, and add new SDKs/integrations from our partners on Sonos.
Add new features for our Music Service Providers on Sonos.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Hands-on experience with C/C++ (coursework, internships, co-op, or professional experience).
Exposure to embedded systems / firmware development (projects, internships, lab work, or early-career roles).
Familiarity with embedded concepts such as memory constraints, concurrency, and real-time behaviors.
Curiosity and strong learning aptitude: ability to ramp on unfamiliar systems and ask great questions.
Experience with version control (e.g., Git, Perforce, etc.).
Willingness to engage with our AI tools to help with your day to day workflow.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience debugging on-device software (logs, tracing, performance investigation).
Comfort reading and working with APIs and protocol-level interactions (networking basics a plus).
Interest in audio, music, and consumer devices.
Experience working in a team environment using code reviews and CI tooling.

The base pay range for this role based off geographic location is:
$93,000 and $115,900The specific pay offered will depend on the candidate’s geographic location, as well as qualifications and experience. We apply geographic pay differentials based on the cost of labor in the market. Employees in high-cost locations may be compensated at the upper end of the range, while those in medium or low cost markets may be compensated at the lower end of the range. Your recruiter can provide more details about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.
