We are seeking a motivated and customer-oriented DevOps Engineer to join our team in the Baltimore-Washington Metro area in support of our federal customer. An ideal candidate will work with agile teams in a complex enterprise software development environment.
* This is a 100% Remote position
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement and manage various development, build, testing, automation tools, and IT infrastructure.
- Define and set up development, test, release, update, and support processes for DevOps operation.
- Work on methods to automate and improve development and release processes.
- Ensure that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats.
- Identify technical problems and develop software updates and 'fixes'.
- Work with software developers and software engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended.
- Responsible for Infrastructure monitoring, maintaining, and managing logs.
- Ensure coordination and communication within the team and with customers.
- The candidate will help to integrate existing applications into the pipeline by developing Jenkins build jobs to handle multi-environment deployments.
Work Experience:
- 2+ years' hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, GitHub actions, Gitlab CI, Circle CI, or related technologies
- 2+ years' experience working with applications built on Java, JavaScript, or similar platforms.
- 2+ years' of experience in Windows, Linux, and UNIX use and/or administration.
- 2+ years' of prior experience with configuration management and deployment tools (Chef, Puppet, Terraform, Ansible, Helm)
- Experience with one or more cloud platforms (AWS).
- Hands-on experience in CI/CD toolsets (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Code Build, Circle CI, Travis CI)
- 1+ years of experience in development, deployment, and troubleshooting with container technologies including Docker or similar technologies.
- Experience with compiling and deploying applications via automation.
- Working experience within application development for federal sector projects is desirable.
- Proven experience in Agile development methodologies Scrum and Kanban, and experience with Jira to manage the agile sprints and backlog.
- Demonstrated professional experience with Agile methodologies and software development.
Job Skills:
- Familiarity with federal cyber security testing practices and tools.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field is required.
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:
- AWS certification(s) preferred.
Communication Skills:
- Solid ability to interface, inspire and motivate at various levels of the organization.
- Ability to convey technical information to non-technical individuals.
- Demonstrated experience communicating effectively across internal and external organizations.
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills to communicate with external and internal stakeholders effectively
