Job Description:
This is a hands-on learning role for someone early in their career who wants to build a strong foundation in AWS and DevOps. You'll
work alongside experienced engineers to support, monitor, and automate the infrastructure behind our payment gateway. You won't be
expected to know everything on day one — we'll invest in your growth through mentorship, pairing, and progressively larger
responsibilities. What matters most is curiosity, a willingness to learn, and attention to detail (because in payments, the details
matter).
Responsibilities:
## What You'll Do
- Help monitor the health and performance of our payment platform using CloudWatch dashboards and alerts
- Assist with routine infrastructure tasks on AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, Load Balancers, Route 53) under guidance
- Write and maintain simple automation scripts (Bash, Python) to reduce manual work
- Support CI/CD pipelines that deploy our applications
- Help investigate and troubleshoot issues, learning to read logs and metrics to find root causes
- Assist with routine maintenance: patching, backups, certificate renewals, and access requests
- Document procedures, runbooks, and what you learn along the way
- Participate in team stand-ups, code reviews, and incident reviews to learn how we operate
- Grow toward participating in an on-call rotation (with support) as you gain experience
## What We're Looking For (Required)
- A degree, diploma, or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field — or demonstrable
self-taught skills and projects
- Preferably (but not essential) that you have AWS Associate Level certification, AWS experience is a must and proof of AWS training is a must have; willing to consider Foundations Level Certification as well with correct experience, although Associate Level candidates will have an advantage
- Familiarity with Linux command-line basics
- Some scripting ability in Bash, Python, or similar
- Understanding of fundamental networking concepts (IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS)
- Basic familiarity with version control (Git)
- Strong problem-solving instincts and attention to detail
- Good communication skills and a genuine eagerness to learn
- Right to work in South Africa
## Nice to Have (Not Required)
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or Solutions Architect – Associate (or working toward one)
- Exposure to Infrastructure-as-Code (CloudFormation, Terraform)
- Any experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
- Exposure to containers (Docker)
- Personal projects, a GitHub profile, or a homelab you can talk about
- Interest in fintech, payments, or security
## Why Join Us
- Learn modern cloud and DevOps practices on a real, large-scale production platform
- Dedicated mentorship from senior engineers and a clear growth path toward Mid/Senior DevOps roles
- Work on systems that handle real money for real businesses — high impact, high learning
- Support for certifications and ongoing training
- Hybrid working based in Cape Town
- Collaborative, supportive engineering culture
## A Note on Payments & Security
Because we operate in a regulated payments environment (PCI-DSS), successful candidates will be required to pass background and
credit checks as part of onboarding. You'll learn security-first engineering practices from day one — a valuable skill set for your
entire career.

Network International Insights
What We Do
Over the past 30 years, we have built a business based on long-standing and trusted relationships with many of the leading merchants, financial institutions and payment networks operating in the Middle East and Africa. Such relationships are based on our comprehensive capabilities, scale, local presence in the multiple markets in which we operate, alongside our trusted reputation. This gives us significant scale and leadership in the region, where we operate in more than 50 countries, serve over 130,000 merchants and 250 financial institutions and fintech customers, whilst managing more than 16 million customer credentials. We have a diversified business model and operate across the entire consumer payments value chain. We do this with a growth-focused strategy through two business lines: • That enables our merchant customers to ‘take payments’, by providing them with various payment acceptance methods, both online and offline. • Which supports our financial institution, fintech and other payment issuing institution customers in enabling consumers ‘make payments’, by managing and processing their consumer payment credentials and transactions.
