Junior Designer

Media Arts Lab (MAL) is the exclusive global advertising agency dedicated to Apple. Our mission is to create smart, simple, and iconic work that transforms business and shapes culture for one of the world’s most iconic brand.

As a Junior Designer, you will be an essential part of our creative teams, supporting senior designers, art directors, and other collaborators on a variety of projects. Your role will involve assisting in the development of design concepts, creating client-ready content, and helping bring creative ideas to life across different media platforms. You are eager and enthusiastic about learning, excited to pitch-in at any stage of the process. This is a fantastic opportunity to hone your design skills and grow within a creative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior designers in the development of original concepts and the creation of design materials. You’ll support the ideation process and take part in transforming concepts into client-ready deliverables.
  • Contribute to design execution by working on specific design elements, such as layout, typography, and image selection. You’ll also support in adapting designs to various formats (digital, print, social, etc.) under the guidance of more experienced designers and art directors.
  • Work alongside the design team and other departments to ensure that projects stay on track, deadlines are met, and design goals are achieved. When instructions are unclear, you ensure you are meeting project goals by asking questions to clarify expectations and stay accountable for your role in any project. You’ll provide support where needed, ensure consistency in the design work across different media, and maintain clear communication throughout the process.
  • Gather design inspiration, conduct creative research, and contribute new ideas that are relevant to the strategy. Stay up to date with design trends and share insights that could benefit the team.
  • Help with the production of design assets, including image editing, preparing files for final output, and assisting in the creation of design presentations.
  • Maintain a keen eye for detail and ensure that your designs are executed to the highest standard.
  • Take every opportunity to develop your design skills, ask questions, and seek feedback. You will be supported in growing your technical abilities, conceptual thinking, and creative problem-solving.

Who Will Thrive in This Role?

  • Passion for design and are eager to bring fresh ideas and insights to the table. You enjoy staying inspired and are curious about new trends, techniques, and creative possibilities.
  • Thrive in a team environment and are comfortable working alongside senior designers and other team members. You’re open to feedback and can easily adapt to different workflows.
  • Detail-oriented and committed to delivering high-quality work. You ensure that your designs are polished and consistent, even when supporting the larger design vision.
  • You’re an eager learner. You take initiative in managing your tasks and responsibilities, tracking project deadlines, and communicating effectively with the team. You are a self-starter who can work efficiently, even when handling multiple tasks. You try new ideas even when not asked to do so.
  • Enthusiastic about learning and eager to develop your design skills under the guidance of more experienced designers. You’re open to constructive criticism and motivated to improve your craft.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Strong portfolio showcasing your work across digital, print, and/or motion design (student portfolio or personal projects are great to show too!).
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, etc.).
  • Understanding of design principles such as typography, composition, color theory, and layout.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Interest in learning new design techniques and tools.
  • Excellent communication skills to contribute ideas and share work with the team.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to follow design briefs accurately.
  • A passion for design and eagerness to develop your creative skills.

Please note that we’re only able to consider applicants who are eligible to work in the UK.

What We Do

Media Arts Lab is the bespoke global agency for Apple and only Apple. We think different to create impact for the world’s most iconic brand.

In 1984, TBWA helped launch Apple’s first Macintosh personal computer with the iconic “1984” commercial. In 1997, TBWA once again disrupted traditional advertising with the “Think Different” campaign. As the Apple brand grew, the need for a confidential, creative incubator, with a dedicated team focused solely on game-changing work, became more evident. In 2006, TBWA\Media Arts Lab was born.

Today, Media Arts Lab has seven dedicated global offices serving 26 markets around the world. Headquartered in Los Angeles, California, Media Arts Lab is housed in a unique 50,000 square foot space, hidden in plain sight from the outside world.

We have six values that underpin who we are and how we do things at Media Arts Lab.

Creative to the Core
Outsider on the Inside
Constructive Candor
Cultivating Inclusivity
Strong Together
Hungry and Curious

TBWA\Media Arts Lab is part of the TBWA Worldwide collective
