Job Description:

We are looking for a Junior Database Engineer to join our Global Operations Command Center (GOCC) team at MBPS. In this role, you are expected to complete activities associated with providing the 24/7/365 operations required to maintain Manulife’s infrastructure and IT services by identifying, analyzing, and prioritizing events and incidents and completing service requests and BAU tasks.

Position Responsibilities:

• Conduct daily health checks across all database platforms to ensure system integrity.

• Monitor, analyze, and respond to incident alerts during your shift.

• Create incident tickets for any issues encountered and escalate them to senior database engineers as needed.

• Fulfill service requests related to database activities, including health checks, access management, backup and recovery, data collection, and reporting.

• Assist in scheduled maintenance activities by participating in change tasks to ensure high performance and reliability.

• Execute automated tasks using Ansible playbook templates.

• Collaborate with senior engineers to implement database solutions aligned with business requirements.

• Support database backup and recovery processes, particularly during database patching. Contribute

• Contribute to the development and documentation of database runbooks.

Required Qualifications:

• 0-2 years of experience in database management or a related field.

• Familiarity with database tools and software such as MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DB2, and Redis.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

Qualifications:

• Experience with performance tuning and optimization of databases.

• Knowledge of data modeling and database design principles.

• Familiarity with database security practices.

• ITIL certification

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

• Good interpersonal skills, well-organized, and able to navigate various job scope areas comfortably.

• A sense of urgency and ability to meet required turnaround times.

• Amenable to work on FULL ONSITE set-up

• Amenable to work on a shifting schedule

• Availability to start ASAP (preferred)
