The Opportunity:
This is a great opportunity for a Junior Data Test Engineer to join a rapidly growing data team in Clarion. Reporting to the Senior Architect, you will be responsible for assisting with designing and maintaining the testing and testing strategy across our customer data platform and BI solution. You will be working with a small team which consists of database architects, developers, testers, administrators and integration developers and can grow your development skills in Azure, Synapse, Python and SQL.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with Developing Test Plans, test scripts and execute the test scripts.
- Throughout the project in various iterations/sprints - conduct system testing, integration testing, functional testing, and end to end testing.
- Learn to develop complex SQL queries for querying data against different databases or source systems for data verification process.
- Prepare the test plan and testing strategies for data warehousing application.
- Extensively interact with developers, business, and management teams to understand the project business requirements and ETL design document specifications.
- Participate in regular project status meetings and qa status meetings.
- Communicate defects identified in testing/dev environment to the developers using Jira.
- Creating test cases for ETL Mappings and design documents for production support.
- Extensively worked with flat files, xml and json data sources.
- Write scripts to test the files data in the databases.
- Effectively communicate testing activities and findings in oral and written formats.
- Work on issues with migration of data from development to production environments.
- Extensively test power bi reports to validate the data and cosmetics of the report.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:
- Experience in testing data validation scenarios and data ingestion, pipelines, and transformation processes (e.g. ETL, ELT).
- Understanding of big data engineering tools and how they can be used strategically (beneficial).
- Understanding of information governance principles and how they could apply in a testing capacity.
- Demonstrated experience of hands-on issue and defect management.
- Experience in testing systems that capture, verify, and maintain field generated metadata.
- Familiarity with multiple back-end and front-end languages and libraries, databases, database design, (e.g. SQL, Hive and/or Presto, Azure environment preferred. Python, Dax, Dig Dag, Yaml (beneficial).
- Knowledge and experience with modern testing development practices and integrated testing product.
- Experience in working with a wide variety of technologies and on diverse problems.
- Experience of Agile Software Development and Testing methods for deployment in cloud environments.
- Experience working with SQL database systems and No-SQL database systems.
- Experience with Power BI.
- Experience working with API calls to retrieve data
- Basic knowledge in creating Test Plans, Test Cases, Test Scenarios and Test Strategies, Defect Management to ensure Quality Assurance and to test all the business requirements.
