Job Description:

SimIS seeks a Junior Data Scientist to support the Learning Technology Branch implement the Political-Military Assisted Decision Making concept designed to develop tools to refine data management functions, enhance situational awareness and understanding, and develop predictive analytical functions which enable users to create and test many potential courses of action. These options will then inform the political-military decision-making process in response to both acute and emergent crises in real-time.
The successful candidate will provide a resume that demonstrates subject matter expertise in performing the following tasks/requirements:
Specific Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Data models. Evaluates the outcomes, veracity, and performance of data models.
  • Engages with the target user to prototype and refine human computer interfaces to optimize visualization of the relationships between different data entities.
  • Specifies and applies appropriate techniques to clean and properly format data for use.
  • Reviews the benefits and value of techniques and tools and recommends improvements for cleansing and reformatting data.
  • Development of concepts of operation, working with subject matter experts.
  • Construct data strategies in line with the owning organizations approach to collecting, storing, and analyzing data.
  • Remain up-to-date with new developments in data science and AI to bring innovative ideas into implementation.
  • Travel to meetings and conferences as required.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data/Computer Science or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years work experience in Data Science, Data Analytics or similar role.
  • At least 2 years of experience using requirements management tools such as Jira, IBM DOORS, Xebrio, etc. (resume must identify specific tools used).
  • Knowledge and familiarity with Capability Development and Management processes such as Requirements Planning, Project Management, Contract Management, Procurement, Strategic Planning.
