Job Description

We are seeking a Junior Data Engineer to join our IT team. The ideal person for this role will need to not only have a strong grasp of data solutions and their functionalities but also be flexible and a strategic thinker able to take on a variety of tasks. As a Junior Data Engineer, you will develop and maintain data solutions (ETL, warehouses, lakehouses, etc) for corporate systems.

Job Responsibilities

• Data pipelines: Design, create, and manage the processes that move data from various sources to a destination like a database, data warehouse, or analytics platform. 
• Data warehouses: Optimize data warehouses to enable fast data retrieval and queries.
• Data security: Ensure systems comply with data security legislation and policies. 
• ETL: Implement ETL packages to copy and transform data. 
• Algorithms and prototypes: Build algorithms and prototypes.
• Data acquisition: Identify opportunities for data acquisition. 
• Analytical tools: Develop analytical tools and data science solutions.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with the business intelligence team and other IT and business stakeholders.
• We work a flexible schedule, including support on some Colombian holidays, with US holidays off.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications 

• Professional level English fluency
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• 2-3 years of experience as a data engineer or a similar role.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Experience with data manipulation using Python.
• Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and tools.

Preferred Qualifications 

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric.
• Thriving in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.  

Physical and Mental Job Qualifications 

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
