About the Role
The Velocity business unit is a fast-moving, start-up-like organization within the broader PTC ecosystem. We support the Onshape and Arena businesses and own the analytics ecosystem that enables data-driven decision-making.
We are hiring a Data Analyst/Analytics Engineer who is both business-savvy and eager to grow their technical analytics skills. The successful candidate will build and support reporting and analytics solutions for business stakeholders, create complex data models, and design, develop, and maintain data pipeline integrations.
This is a hybrid role based in Boston, MA, and regular in-office presence is required to support collaboration, mentorship, and team engagement.
Responsibilities
- Partner with data analysts and stakeholders to translate business questions into clear metrics aligned with GTM objectives
- Deliver actionable, data-driven insights to stakeholders that clearly demonstrate business impact and inform decision-making
- Build, model, and optimize datasets in Amazon Redshift to support analytics and reporting use cases
- Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and storing data using Python and Apache Airflow
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data pipelines to ensure data quality, performance, and reliability
- Contribute to data quality initiatives, including validation, testing, and automation
- Participate in code reviews and follow established engineering best practices
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Data Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field
- Experience building dashboards in Looker or other business intelligence tools
- Experience using SQL for querying data, building data models, and implementing transformation logic
- Ability to operate in a stakeholder-facing environment, translating business requirements into technical specifications
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Professional experience in data engineering, software engineering, analytics engineering, or a related role (internship or co-op experience included)
- Exposure to Python, particularly for data processing or pipeline development
Nice to Have
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Bitbucket Pipelines, or similar
- Experience deploying, monitoring, and maintaining ETL applications or services in AWS
- Familiarity with Jira or similar agile project management tools
- Hands-on experience building or supporting data pipelines
- Experience or familiarity with Apache Airflow or other workflow orchestration tools
- Exposure to Amazon Redshift or similar cloud data warehouse technologies
- Familiarity with Git-based source control and collaborative development workflows

- Comfortable engaging with business and non-technical stakeholders to understand requirements and use cases, with support from Data Analysts
- Ability to clearly explain code, data models, and technical decisions

PTC carefully considers a wide variety of factors when determining compensation. The anticipated annual salary range for this position is between $85,000 - $95,000. The salary range reflects a good-faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on a candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Additionally, candidates may be eligible for a performance-based bonus. Employees also have the opportunity to become a PTC shareholder through our employee share purchase program (ESPP), which allows for the purchase of discounted PTC stock. Certain roles may also be eligible for participation in our equity programs.
