SUMMARY OF ROLE 

 

The Jr Brand Manager Pharmacy is responsible for defining and executing the local brand and portfolio strategy for the assigned Generic portfolio and selected Consumer Healthcare brands (Gold Collagen Brand), ensuring alignment with business objectives while adapting global priorities to the specific dynamics of the Portuguese pharmaceutical market. 

 

The role requires a deep understanding of the Portuguese pharmaceutical and pharmacy environment, including Generic medicines and selected Consumer Healthcare categories, customer needs, pharmacy channel dynamics, pricing and reimbursement framework, healthcare policies, competitive landscape, wholesalers, distribution models and consumer trends. 

 

Working in close collaboration with Commercial, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Regulatory, Supply Chain and Finance, the Brand Manager translates strategic priorities into effective commercial initiatives, ensuring excellence in execution while continuously monitoring business performance and adapting plans to evolving market conditions. 

  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTION 

Brand & Portfolio Management 

  • Define and implement the local strategy for the assigned Generic portfolio and selected Consumer Healthcare brands, ensuring alignment with business objectives and the specific commercial dynamics of each category. 

  • Manage products throughout their lifecycle, including launch preparation, growth, maturity, portfolio optimization and loss of exclusivity. 

  • Adapt brand strategies, customer engagement approaches and commercial priorities according to the different regulatory, competitive and consumer dynamics of Generic medicines and Consumer Healthcare products. 

  • Develop integrated brand plans and tactical initiatives that maximize commercial performance and long-term portfolio value. 

  • Contribute to portfolio prioritization and recommend investment allocation based on business potential, customer needs and market attractiveness. 

  • Identify opportunities for portfolio expansion, optimization and sustainable growth. 

Strategy, Positioning & Commercial Excellence 

  • Translate global strategic priorities into locally relevant commercial strategies adapted to the Portuguese healthcare environment. 

  • Develop differentiated value propositions that strengthen product competitiveness beyond price, including quality, reliability, supply continuity and customer partnership. 

  • Continuously evaluate market evolution and adjust brand strategies according to customer behavior, competitive activity and healthcare policy developments. 

  • Define clear objectives, KPIs and success measures to monitor strategic execution. 

Market & Customer Insights 

  • Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of the Portuguese Generic pharmaceutical market and relevant Consumer Healthcare categories, including pharmacy dynamics, wholesaler strategies, pricing evolution, consumer trends and competitor activity. 

  • Analyze market trends, customer insights, sales data and competitive intelligence to identify risks, opportunities and strategic recommendations. 

  • Monitor product launches, substitution trends, tender outcomes and competitor initiatives to proactively adapt portfolio strategies. 

  • Generate actionable insights that support business planning and commercial decision-making. 

CrossFunctional Leadership 

  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with Commercial, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Regulatory, Supply Chain and Finance to ensure successful implementation of portfolio strategies. 

  • Act as the brand lead within cross-functional project teams, ensuring alignment across all business functions. 

  • Support Sales teams through clear strategic direction, training initiatives and development of customer-focused value propositions. 

  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Forecasting teams to optimize product availability and demand planning. 

Execution & Customer Engagement 

  • Lead the development and implementation of promotional materials, customer engagement initiatives and sales support tools, ensuring consistency with brand strategy and compliance requirements. 

  • Coordinate marketing campaigns and internal communication activities supporting commercial priorities. 

  • Deliver brand presentations, cycle meetings and strategic updates to internal stakeholders. 

  • Ensure all promotional activities comply with internal policies and applicable regulatory requirements. 

Financial & Business Performance 

  • Manage the assigned marketing budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources and optimal return on investment. 

  • Contribute to demand forecasting, business planning and scenario analysis. 

  • Monitor business performance through KPIs, sales trends and financial indicators, recommending corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives. 

  • Support portfolio profitability through effective planning, investment prioritization and performance management 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, SKILLS AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS 

  • Education:  Management, Marketing, Life Sciences or similar  Bachelor's degree or equivalent  
  • 1-2 Years’ experience on Pharma Industry  

Preferred:

  • 1-2 Years’ experience in Marketing & Brand Management 
  • 1-2 Years’ experience with Generic / Prescription Portfolio Management 
  • ​1-2 Years’ experience with the Portuguese Generic Pharmaceutical Market 
  • 1-2 Years’ experience with Market Analysis & Competitive Intelligence 
  • 1-2 Years’ experience with Cross-functional Project Leadership 
  • 1-2 Years’ experience with Budget Management & Forecasting
