Position Summary:

CAA is seeking a Junior Analyst to support a Contract Administration Executive in the Books and Publishing department. The position is part of a small team that works to ensure accuracy in Publisher reporting of sales and royalty earnings on behalf of clients and Agent colleagues and to use this same reporting for insights into project performance and trend analysis.

This role offers exposure to both Publishing leadership and CAA's Agency Operations team. For individuals who demonstrate strong analytical capabilities, business judgment, and leadership potential, the position can serve as a foundation for expanded responsibilities and long-term career development within CAA, but it is not intended for candidates pursuing a traditional literary Agent career path.

The ideal candidate has a passion for book publishing, financial analysis, and business operations. They are intellectually curious, analytical, and eager to develop a deep understanding of publishing contracts, revenue streams, deal structures, and the broader economics of the publishing industry.

Essential Functions
•    Fulfill colleague and client requests for documents quickly and accurately
•    Collect and maintain a high volume of publishing documents in organized files for prompt access 
•    Read and analyze publishers’ royalty statements and calculate royalties to confirm they reflect agreed contractual terms
•    Provide timely summaries of client royalty statements, sales and earnings, and value on request to support dealmaking
•    Research author publication and contract licensing history including domestic subsidiary rights and international translation rights
•    Perform buyer analysis and research on request 
•    Ensure data integrity through cleanup and organization to support future analysis
•    Translate data into new insights and trends watching for the creation of original data-driven reports with clear narratives 
•    Aid departmental training initiatives and internal software development for Intellectual Property
•    Support business growth areas and ad hoc projects for the department

Requirements

Preferred Skills:

•    1-2 years Royalty experience preferred
•    Familiarity with contracts is preferred

•    Familiarity with a foreign language or languages and foreign currency transactions is welcomed
•    Appreciation and enthusiasm for books of all kinds is welcomed
 

Location

This role will be located in our New York office. The Publishing department offers a flexible work schedule and requires a minimum of three days per week on-site.

Compensation

The annual base salary for this position is in the range of $66,300 - $70,000. This position is also eligible for benefits and a discretionary bonus. Ultimately, the salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, business sector, and geographic location, among other criteria.
