General Purpose
The Junior Accountant position provides recent graduates and soon-to-be graduates with hands-on experience in corporate accounting while preparing them for advancement into a Staff Accountant role.
Working directly with experienced accountants and accounting leadership, you'll learn how to prepare journal entries, perform account reconciliations, analyze financial information, prepare financial reports, and develop a strong understanding of the accounting processes that support one of the nation's fastest-growing healthcare organizations.
Career Development
This position is designed as a developmental role.
Successful Junior Accountants receive structured training and increasing responsibility as they demonstrate proficiency. The goal is to prepare team members for promotion to Staff Accountant, typically within approximately six months, based on individual performance, demonstrated competency, and business needs.
Essential Duties
During your training, you will learn to:
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Perform account reconciliations and analyze balance sheet accounts.
- Assist in month-end and year-end close activities.
- Prepare schedules supporting financial statements.
- Analyze revenue, expenses, payroll, and other financial information.
- Identify discrepancies and recommend appropriate corrections.
- Develop a strong understanding of accounting systems and financial reporting processes.
- Work with large datasets using Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
- Participate in internal and external audit support.
- Collaborate with accounting team members across multiple departments.
- Continuously improve accounting knowledge and technical skills.
- Perform other accounting-related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Requirements
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
We are primarily seeking candidates who have recently graduated with a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field, or who are expected to graduate within six months.
This position is designed for individuals who are beginning their accounting careers and are looking for a structured environment where they can develop into a Staff Accountant.
