Job Description
The Junior Accountant is responsible for working with the Accounting Team and Management to ensure that month end close deadlines are met. This position works closely with the Accounting Manager to perform routine accounting duties. The Junior Accountant is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Complete bank reconciliations and monthly General Ledger (GL) account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Assist with month-end close transactions and the preparation of internal and external financial reporting deliverables.

Preparation of monthly journal entries, such as reclassifications, prepaid/amortization entries, accruals (e.g., interest, loan costs, waterfall, management fees etc.) ensuring accuracy and completeness of all GL accounts.

Responsible for processing journal entries to ensure all cash transactions are recorded, such as bank fees, internal transfers, vendor payments, etc.

Support Senior Accountants, Managers, and Directors with requests for information from auditors, and many constituents across the organization.

Initiate wire payments for senior management approval, while ensuring compliance with internal controls.

Assist in onboarding newly acquired properties into the accounting process, including the preparation of related journal entries and procedures.

Assist with audit and compliance requests i.e. preparing supporting work papers and documentation as requested.

Perform back-up duties as necessary.

Assist with special projects as necessary.
Qualifications:
-
Knowledge of ERP systems.
-
Advanced proficiency with Excel including use of formulas, pivot tables, and basic data analysis.

Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles, IFRS/US GAAP is considered an asset.

Quick learner.

Adaptable to new tasks and assignments.

Demonstrated strong attention to detail.

Ability to work independently, taking ownership of work product and completing work within specified deadlines.

Willingness to take initiative and contribute to process improvements.

Excellent math and financial acumen.

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
Preferred Attributes:

Knowledge of Yardi

Pursuing CPA designation desirable but not required.
