Location

We are hiring for two positions. You can expect to work on site at the Lindsey Flanigan Courthouse located at 520 W Colfax Ave, Denver, CO 80204. One positions will work work Monday through Friday from 7:00AM-3:30PM, and the second position will work Tuesday through Saturday from 7:00AM-3:30PM. You will be prompted in the application process to indicate which schedule you prefer. While we cannot guarantee your preference, we will make every effort to accommodate your preferred schedule.

The mission of Denver County Court is to administer justice fairly, efficiently, and effectively; provide excellent customer service, and foster a positive environment where employees enjoy their work. The City and County of Denver’s third branch of government is comprised of 19 judges, 4 full-time magistrates, and 300 staff members. Case types include state, civil, small claims, traffic, criminal, and other general sessions cases within the City and County of Denver. The Division

The General Sessions and Criminal Division is a fast-paced environment serving many customers with complex legal matters. We are committed to helping people, creating and maintaining an accurate court record, and providing support services to the Judicial Officers. We are looking for employees who value customer service, accuracy, variety, and teamwork.

What You’ll Do

The Rover Judicial Associate I have the opportunity to experience the entire General Sessions/Criminal Division, by training and working in every courtroom. They work with every judge, and process case records at all charge levels, from municipal to felony, and at all stages, from arraignment to trial. As they gain knowledge and experience, they can also become valuable trainers for incoming clerks in the Court. The Rover position, while challenging, provides an in-depth and rewarding glimpse into the criminal justice system.

As a Rover- Judicial Associate I you can expect to:

  • Maintain accurate and confidential records, manage all courtroom functions, and act as liaison between defendants, court personnel, and the judicial officer

  • Provide excellent and unbiased customer service in a high-volume division

  • Enter your Judge’s orders and findings in the case record in real time during Court, keeping pace with the proceedings as each case is called

  • Train and support fellow Rovers and Judicial Associate I’s in multiple courtrooms

  • Change courtroom assignment daily

  • Seamlessly transition between courtrooms while meeting the individual needs of each judicial officers and their staff, and while also performing courtroom functions to their preference

  • Occasionally adjust work hours as needed for trials, hearings, or heavy dockets

  • Support Procedural Fairness

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate

  • Experience Requirement: Two (2) years of experience in a court, law enforcement or legal setting

  • Education and Experience Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the education and experience requirements with the exception of the two (2) years of experience in court, law enforcement or legal setting

  • License and Certifications: Must be able to pass an initial pre-security clearance screening and maintain CBI (Colorado Bureau of Investigation) certification as a condition of employment
