The City of Peoria Municipal Court is looking for an individual to fill its Judicial Assistant position. The purpose of this position is to perform specialized duties in accordance with court policies and procedures, which involves considerable public contact and knowledge of court cases with judicial instructions. This is accomplished by performing a wide variety of duties including legal support, clerical, cash handling, data entry, and responding to and resolving customer inquiries.
The position will prepare and process a variety of cases including misdemeanor, civil traffic, parking violations and protective orders; perform a variety of computer data functions in the case management system including input of citations, long forms, public and government correspondence, motions. They will answer a high-volume call system while providing exceptional customer service and assist the public while providing levels of departmental necessitated customer service at the front counter. They will perform clerical duties including but not limited to: typing correspondence, processing mail, collecting and posting fees and fines in the case management system.
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
Exceptional interpersonal skills.
Requires a high degree of accuracy and strong attention to detail.
Highly organized with a focus on task prioritization and efficiency.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment including a high volume workload.
Ability to guide or assist colleagues periodically, including training others in specific tasks or job functions.
Capable of maintaining composure and effectiveness when interacting with individuals who may be upset, uncooperative, or experiencing communication challenges.
