Parasitology Lab Tech Lead
• Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting the team in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and
Operations associated with laboratory testing, equipment, facility, and materials.
• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
• Monitor and operate instrumentation.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor.
• Support training technicians and assistants for parasitology test procedures with assistance from
a medical lead of parasitology.
• Able to read and understand Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). As needed, be able to edit
existing SOPs and build new SOPs with assistance from a medical lead of parasitology.
Required Skills, Education, and Experience:
MT/MLT and 0 to 5+ years of lab experience
CVT/RVT/LVT and 1 to 5+ years of lab experience
Associate degree and 1 to 5+ years of lab experience
Bachelor’s degree and 1 to 5+ years of lab experience
• Demonstrated ability to build, develop, and work within a clinical laboratory team, including
creative problem-solving and flexibility to meet rapid growth.
• IT and LIS (laboratory information systems) experience and general comfort level with computer
systems, technology, and equipment interfaces.
• Team leadership, friendly, and loves a challenge.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are required.
• Robust organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced STAT environment.
• Strong computer skills and ability to work within Windows and Laboratory Information Systems
environment.
• Proficient knowledge of basic parasitology and parasitology tests.
Preferred candidate qualifications:
• Robust organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced STAT environment.
• Experience in the veterinary field is strongly preferred, but not required. Other experience
considered as applicable.
Physical and Time requirements:
•Able to sit and stand for long periods
•Able to lift to 50lbs
•Flexible hours and overtime may be required
•SHIFT TIMES: Must be available for evenings as needed and rotating weekends
