About The RoleWe are looking for Legal & Compliance Counsel role who will be focusing on corporate legal affairs management. This role will require proficiency in Japanese and Chinese, and business-level English is preferred. We especially welcome cross-disciplinary legal professionals — those who bring knowledge from outside the law (technology, data, marketing, or business) and enjoy working hand-in-hand with product and commercial teams.
Responsibilities• Liaise and give accurate legal direction regularly with our global colleagues on their legal requirements for their commercial activities.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts and other legal documents, primarily related to sales, vendors, partners, licensing, and marketing. The work will be mainly conducted in Japanese, with occasional involvement in Mandarin Chinese and English contracts.
• Apply and streamline corporate legal procedure and process.
•Compliance: conduct research on legal issues related to AdTech or/and MarTech business that may impact company. This role owns Appier's product-facing regulatory compliance across privacy, AI, and advertising (incl. IAB standards).
• Work allocation: contract review and legal operation 50%; compliance work 50%
• Other tasks or projects as directed by Legal Manager
[Essential]
• Be open-minded, ambitious; and communicate directly.
• Bachelor of Law degree is required (LL.B).
• Minimum 1 year of legal experience at a law firm or as in-house counsel, using Japanese as a working language (experience does not need to be based in Japan)
• Desire to learn and work in AdTech or/and MarTech industry, with willingness to stay updated on changing regulations and industry trends.

• Japan and/or US bar certificate.
• Experience in Data Compliance.
• Working experience in advertising or/and software industry.
• Business English
