Boeing Canada Winnipeg is seeking a Journeyperson Electrician reporting to the Equipment Maintenance Manager, working out of the Winnipeg, Manitoba office.
The Journeyperson Electrician participates in all phases of rebuild, construction and maintenance of plant machinery, equipment and machine tools. Determine usability of machinery and equipment and methods of repair. Work with Facilities, Engineering and supervisor to solve design, developmental and other like problems. This position may require evenings or midnight shifts.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Maintain Plant Facility electrical, electronic and pneumatic systems to optimum operating efficiency, diagnose and correct malfunctions, modify, calibrate, test and certify such typical facilities as load centers, power panels, generators, transformers, heaters, CNC, time clock and communication systems, machining centers, autoclave, overhead crane, heat treat controls and programmable equipment controls
  • Install and connect electrical, electronic and pneumatic control systems of Plant Facilities, and perform necessary corrective operations and adjustments at the time of installation to ensure facilities operate as required
  • Determine power and load requirements, wire size, current required and demand load with respect to distance from power source
  • Lead and work with employees engaged in the maintenance, repair, calibration, adjustment, modification, and test of industrial electrical, electronic and pneumatic facilities including programmable logic controllers, CNC controllers and related equipment
  • Use schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, vendor manuals, and applicable national, provincial and municipal specifications, codes and ordinances
  • Repair, and rebuild electrical motors and generators
  • Use electrical and electronic test instruments, measuring devices, and shop tools
  • Perform work described in other maintenance classifications when incidental but necessary to the accomplishment of the assignment
  • Experience with aerospace or complex precision manufacturing equipment (autoclaves, CNC machines, robotic cells)
  • Hands on experience with PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Schneider Electric, etc.), HMI configuration and troubleshooting
  • VFD selection, configuration and troubleshooting (vector control, torque limits, regen)
  • Knowledge of industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, DeviceNet) and network troubleshooting
  • Experience with motion control systems and servo tuning
  • Familiarity with electrical safety systems: lockout/tagout (LOTO), arc flash analysis, CSA Z462 (Workplace Electrical Safety) & CSA Z460 (Control of Hazardous Energy)
  • Preventive maintenance program execution, CMMS experience (e.g., Maximo, SAP, e-Maint)
  • Experience with electrical panel design, wire routing, cable tray layout and conduit bending for industrial installations
  • Experience with electrical testing and commissioning: Megger, insulation resistance, hipot testing, power quality analyzers, thermal imaging
  • Ability to read and create electrical schematics, P&IDs, wiring diagrams and ladder logic
  • Experience with calibrations and instrumentation (pressure, temperature, transducers)
  • Ability to lead or mentor junior technicians

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Red Seal Journeyperson Electricians Ticket
  • 5+ years of experience working as a Journeyperson Electrician
  • Ability to work evening shift and/or midnight shift as assigned
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada
  • Must be eligible to handle US export-controlled data

Preferred Qualifications (Education/Experience):
  • Experience with complex electrical controls and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) (preferably with CNC equipment)
  • Understanding of regulatory and code requirements (Canada Electrical Code, CSA, IEC, local jurisdictions)
  • Demonstrate ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and meet production deadlines
  • Arc flash and electrical safety training (NFPA 70E equivalent)
  • Confined space, fall protection, forklift, aerial lift experience
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with a methodical approach to root cause analysis
  • Ability to demonstrate strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills

Additional Information:
This requisition is for a locally hired position in Canada. The employer is Boeing Canada. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada. Benefits and pay are determined by Canada and are not on Boeing US-based payroll. This is not an expatriate assignment.
