About the role Job Summary
Set up and operate machine tools, including HBM, VBM, lathes, milling machines, ID/OD grinders, planers, and bore, without assistance, following department policy and procedures manual, to manufacture and recondition component parts to customer, OEM and industry standards. Interprets mechanical drawings, blueprints, and sketches and performs precision metal cutting, grinding, shaping and fitting. Measures components, parts, and raw materials with precision measuring instruments, gauges, and tools. Works under limited supervision.

  • Performs layouts, sets up, and operates machines.
  •  Read and interpret procedures, work orders, and technical drawings to meet specifications.
  •  Apply knowledge of metals and alloys, including stainless and carbon steels.
  • Improves set ups and methods for higher quality and improved cost.
  • Operate overhead crane and forklifts safely as directed by Supervisor. Perform other duties as necessary.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Maintains a safe, neat, and orderly workstation
  • Assists in the disassembly, inspection, and re-assembly of pump equipment when required
  • Communicate effectively to ensure smooth workflow transitions between team members.
  • Support and assist coworkers, including training and collaboration.
  • Supports, cooperates with, and participates in company-wide safety program which includes following all safety policies and procedures
  • Supports and cooperates in Sulzer Nuclear Quality Program   
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Works overtime as requested
  • Operates forklifts, overhead cranes, man lifts, and scissor lifts

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of a machinist apprentice program or equivalent training.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in machining.
  • Ability to hold close tolerances and conduct component inspection.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Basic math skills.

Skills Required
