We are seeking an exceptional and visionary executive to lead PT Daimler Commercial Vehicles Indonesia (DCVI) as President Director. You will be responsible for the overall strategic direction, governance, and business performance of Daimler Truck’s commercial vehicle operations in Indonesia. This role represents the Company to external stakeholders and ensures full compliance with local regulations and Daimler Truck’s global policies.
PT Daimler Commercial Vehicles Indonesia (DCVI) is part of Daimler Truck, one of the world’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers. Representing Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Buses in Indonesia, operating with a nationwide presence. Headquartered in Jakarta, DCVI works closely with its manufacturing entity in Cikarang, West Java, and provides aftersales and training support to ensure consistent product quality and customer service standards in the Indonesian market.
Your mission is to accelerate market growth for Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Buses through strong dealer partnerships, an optimized business model, and a relentless focus on customer values. Furthermore, you will cultivate a high-performing organization aligned with Daimler Truck’s values – ensuring the right structure, leadership capability, and talent pipeline. You will also be fully accountable for shaping and executing corporate strategy, adapting to shifting market dynamics, and delivering all financial and operational targets by both global headquarters and the Indonesian business environment.
ResponsibilitiesYour main responsibilities will include the following:
1. Business Development & Strategic Growth
Lead the development, alignment, and execution of DCVI's corporate and business strategies in collaboration with RC SEA and HQ.
Ensure strategic alignment across the organization and all key stakeholders for effective company steering.
Ensure business models and retail formats reflect strategic priorities and market requirements.
Build and maintain strong partnerships with the dealer network and retail owners, providing strategic guidance for mutual long-term success in Indonesia.
Prepare the Company for market dynamics, regulatory changes, and future industry developments in Indonesia, leading required organizational or business transformations.
2. Organizational Leadership & People Development
Ensure the organizational structure is aligned with the strategy and Daimler Truck's policies.
Monitor and ensure organizational efficiency and effectiveness to enable strong business performance.
Strengthen employee engagement and commitment through effective leadership, communication, motivation, and culture-building initiatives.
Develop, manage, and motivate organizational talent through proper succession and development planning together with the DCVI management team.
Maintain constructive relationships with labour unions and employee representatives, ensuring a supportive, inclusive work environment and fair employee benefits.
3. Corporate Representation & Governance
Represent DCVI to employees, business partners, authorities, external stakeholders, and the public in alignment with Daimler's corporate values.
Ensure compliance with Daimler Truck's policies, local regulations, and all integrity and governance standards.
Ensure legitimate and proper decision-making and governance within the Company, implementing systems in accordance with local regulations and Daimler Truck's policies, including Board of Directors' Meetings.
Report business strategy, plans, performance, and key issues to shareholders as required by local regulations and Daimler Truck's policies.
Manage and approve corporate audits, financial audits, and governance-related checks and reports.
4. Business & Target Planning
Lead and approve DCVI's business planning in alignment with corporate strategy, market potential, and operational requirements.
Ensure market dynamics and business performance are regularly monitored and reported.
Align with RC SEA and HQ on required adjustments to business plans and actions to meet quantitative and qualitative targets.
Ensure adequate resources — including IT systems — are in place to support business planning and operational capabilities.
Strengthen cross-functional collaboration across divisions, departments, and vertical chains to achieve business targets.
5. Brand and Customer Attractiveness
Foster and enhance the brand values of Mercedes-Benz trucks and buses in Indonesia through strong, customer-focused marketing activities.
Ensure appropriate monitoring of customer and dealer satisfaction across products, services, and brand promise, and lead effective improvement measures.
Safeguard the brand by monitoring its usage in the market and taking action on any unauthorized or inappropriate use.
Degree in Engineering, Business, Automotive Technology, or a related discipline; a Master of Business Administration or equivalent qualification is preferred.
Minimum 12 years of proven leadership experience across various leadership positions in the sales and/or aftersales of the automobile business.
Experience leading a medium-sized market presence company (MPC) for commercial vehicles, or leading a department within a Global Headquarters managing commercial vehicle business preferred.
Strong understanding of the trucks and buses market and its business nature.
Strong business acumen and strategic mindset with an entrepreneurial approach with sound decision-making and negotiating capabilities.
Understanding of Asian culture with demonstrated intercultural leadership experience.
Solid grasp of corporate accounting, corporate governance, legal, and human resource management fundamentals.
Strong sense of compliance with corporate policies and regulations.
This position is based in Jakarta, Indonesia. A valid and approved work visa is required for employment in Jakarta in accordance to local labour law regulations.
Skills Required
- Degree in Engineering, Business, Automotive Technology, or a related discipline
- Master of Business Administration or equivalent qualification
- At least 12 years of proven leadership experience in sales and/or aftersales within the automobile business
- Experience leading a medium-sized commercial vehicle market presence company or a commercial vehicle department within a global headquarters
- Strong understanding of the trucks and buses market and its business nature
- Strong business acumen, strategic mindset, entrepreneurial approach, decision-making, and negotiation capabilities
- Understanding of Asian culture and demonstrated intercultural leadership experience
- Knowledge of corporate accounting, corporate governance, legal, and human resource management fundamentals
- Strong compliance orientation regarding corporate policies and regulations
- Valid and approved work visa for employment in Jakarta
