Operate and transport vertical drilling rigs and materials for foundation installation projects. Maintain safe sites, inspect equipment, unload/load materials, mentor teammates, and work flexible, travel-heavy schedules in varied weather.

The Drill Crew Operator is responsible for transport of drill and or materials to the worksite.  Operator are responsible for safe operation of drill based on conditions.  Operator works with team on vertical foundation installation construction projects. Operators are to focus on safety, and compliance.  Operator transports drill rig and/or materials to job site.

Typical Responsibilities

  • Operate vertical drill in accordance with job specifications and customer requirements.
  • Maintain site for safety conditions and related issues.
  • Work in a team environment.
  • Transport materials and/or drill to jobsite.
  • Unload materials at job site and reload after job is completed.  Drivers are required to verify materials are loaded and secured appropriately.
  • Check mechanical aspects of the vehicles and drill rig and report any issues / concerns.

Experience and Personal Attributes

  • 3 years of field experience (preferred)
  • Valid Driver’s License (CDL preferred-but will provide training)
  • Excellent Communications and Interpersonal Skills
  • Self-motivated and able to learn quickly
  • Team oriented and have exemplary character.
  • Able to mentor less experienced team members
  • Safety focused.

Travel:

  • Must be willing to travel up to two weeks at a time depending on job.
  • Job is a non-structured schedule that may require long work days.
  • We provide transportation to and from jobsite.  Travel time is paid.
  • JDH pays for hotel rooms and employees are paid per diem for every night on the road

Qualifications

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to operate drilling rig based on conditions and operate rig accordingly
  • Ability to communicate and comprehend the efforts of others
  • Ability to think and act quickly
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Must be organized and attentive to details in a fast-paced working environment
  • Able to multi-task, stay organized and close out assigned tasks
  • Able to operate independently and make safe decisions regarding personal conduct
  • Able to work for extended periods of time in harsh weather conditions
  • Able to think and act independently to ensure personal and team success and safety\Must be able to work flexible hours and travel
  • Experience with rock and dirt drilling
  • Experience operating large vertical foundation drilling rigs
  • Experience with large casing and wet slurry drill holes.
