As a Javascript/React Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking Home Lending Technology line of business, you will be an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.
Job responsibilities

  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
  • Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data, and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
  • Contributes to evaluation sessions with external stakeholders and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
  • Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies.
  • Actively mentors junior team members by providing guidance, conducting code reviews, and offering technical support.
  • Facilitates knowledge sharing within the team through regular meetings, pair programming sessions, and comprehensive documentation.
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.


Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years of applied experience
  • Proficient in one or more programming language
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JavaScript Frameworks and related tools (React, Jest, React Testing Library, etc.) in enterprise applications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of agile methodologies, CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, unit and functional testing, and operational stability
  • Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
  • Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Practical cloud native experience like AWS
  • Proven experience in mentoring junior engineers, providing constructive feedback, and fostering a collaborative team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to take full ownership of tasks and projects, from inception to completion


Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
  • Familiarity with modern back-end technologies, Java Microservices with Spring Boot
  • Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  • Exposure to Cypress automation, Cucumber or equivalent automation frameworks, reporting using Splunk or equivalent reporting tools
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in an enterprise environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
