Department OverviewDIMETRA Connect is a newly formed team responsible for designing and implementation of a new DIMETRA IP Gateway that will enable communication with Tetra Devices via IP networks.
Our product will be developed and tested in Java in our R&D center in Krakow with cooperation with the Tetra Device teams from Denmark and Malaysia.
The Dimetra Network Management team is responsible for the central nervous system of Motorola Solutions’ mission-critical TETRA communication. We are seeking a Software Engineer who combines strong Java development capability with a deep understanding of the Linux operating environment.
Job Description
This position is designed for a professional who is ready to move beyond pure application coding. You will take ownership of complex technical challenges, bridging the gap between high-level software logic and low-level system operations.
Key Responsibilities:
System-level development: design and implement robust Java-based features (Java 21)
Integration & automation: develop and maintain scripts to manage system configurations and inter-process communication
Technical problem solving: perform deep-dive troubleshooting of distributed systems, analyzing logs, network traffic, and database states to resolve complex defects
Feature ownership: drive the full software development lifecycle for your assigned features, from technical analysis and design to implementation and testing
Continuous improvement: contribute to the stability of the platform by conducting code reviews, enhancing test coverage, and optimizing system performance
Basic Requirements
Professional experience: minimum two (2) years of commercial software engineering experience, OR less than two (2) years of experience combined with a strong, demonstrable portfolio or track record of successful personal or non-commercial projects
Java expertise: strong proficiency in Java with a solid grasp of concurrency and memory management.
Linux proficiency: working knowledge of Linux (RHEL)
Scripting skills: Demonstrated ability to write effective automation scripts using Python or Bash
Database knowledge: competence with SQL and relational database concepts
Communication: fluent English with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Network Management systems or Network Protocols (SNMP, TCP/IP).
Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins), and Version Control (Git).
Background in diagnosing issues within complex, multi-tiered architectures.
