Java Software Engineer

Maxar is seeking ambitious software engineers to build novel solutions for challenging problems for both US Government and industry customers. Work is centered on the development of a suite of high fidelity, physics-based software that models air and space Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems to include their subsystems and payloads as well as ground components. The focus of this position will be to contribute to the full stack development of components that comprises a family of applications built on this software suite. Development is conducted in an agile environment.
Minimum Requirements:

• Must be a U.S. Citizen and have a current Secret with the ability to obtain & maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related.
• 5-10 years of relevant software development experience.
• Experience working in an aerospace/astrodynamics-related domain.
• Required to work at Herndon, VA office a minimum of three days a week.
• Proficient Java programmer using common development tools such as Eclipse, IntelliJ, VSCode, etc.
• Proficient developing within micro-service architectures utilizing appropriate technologies (e.g., Spring Boot).
• Experience working in an Agile development process utilizing common tools, such as the Atlassian Tool Suite (JIRA, BitBucket, Confluence).
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
• Effective oral and written communication skills to include active listening.

Preferred Skills:

• Active/current TS/SCI clearance.
• Web application front-end experience (e.g., Vue/JavaScript).
• SQL/database experience.
• Linux experience.
• Experience with ISR planning, scheduling, or modeling and simulation software.

The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. • The base pay for this position within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is: $108,000.00 - $180,000.00 annually.
For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
