As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within a brand new team in Finance Data, Toolsets and Services (FDTS), you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.
Job responsibilities
- Develops Java/Python applications integrated with AWS services like EC2, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB etc.
- Builds highly scalable and fault-tolerant systems on AWS platform
- Implements CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment on AWS
- Troubleshoots and optimizes existing systems for security, performance, availability and cost
- Collaborates with peers to improve quality through code reviews, driving secure, stable and scalable implementations.
- Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
- Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems
- Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
- Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
- Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and applied experience
- Hands-on practical experience in developing, debugging, optimising and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages (Java and/or Python) and database querying languages
- Experience/knowledge of AWS serverless computing and microservices architecture
- Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
- Ability to write secure, testable, maintainable code
- Ability to solve data-oriented problems using multiple relevant technologies e.g. SQL, Relational DB, Spark, NoSQL while optimizing for performance
- Good understanding of object oriented analysis and design
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience of Spark performance tuning of complex queries on large datasets
- Experience of Big Data technologies
- Experience of Databricks or Cloudera
- Experience of building Fullstack applications
- Exposure to working in an agile development (e.g. story pointing etc)
